Training and Events

Seminars, workshops and events are organized regularly to promote use of eLearning technology at the University.  For schedules and registration, visit this page.

Some workshops have been designed specially to get users familiar with the new CU eLearning System (Blackboard Learn). Once they have been scheduled and are open for registration, you can locate them through this page for registration.

Workshop Description

Introduction to CU eLearning System - Blackboard Learn (BBL01)

Overview : This briefing session introduces you the new features of Blackboard Learn and you will have the opportunity to explore the Blackboard Learn environment and the tools and functionality available.
Objectives: This session aims to provide an overview of the new CU eLearning System - Blackboard Learn
Duration: 1 hour

Blackboard Learn: Mastering the Basics (BBL02)

Overview: This workshop provides you an overview on Blackboard Learn and you will learn the basics of building a course in Blackboard Learn.
Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Become familiar with the Blackboard interface
  • Add course files and create effective content pages
  • Customize the delivery of content with Adaptive Release
  • Inform students using Announcement and Email
  • Create and grade assignment
  • Communicate with students using Discussion Board
  • Have basic understanding on Grade Center
Duration: 2 hours

Managing Online Assessment (BBL03)

Overview: This workshop provides skill training on using the assessment tool of Blackboard learn.
Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Understand different question types for a Test
  • Create and deploy a Test
  • Create Question Set
  • Check and download Test results
Prerequisite: Participants are required to attend Mastering the Basics (BBL02) before joining this workshop.
Duration: 1.5 hours

Mastering the Grade Center (BBL04)

Overview: This workshop provides skill training on using the Grade Center tool to monitor student performance and generate course report.
Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Master the Grade Center
  • Monitor Student Performance
  • Generate Course reports
  • Deploy Early Warning Message
Prerequisite: Participants are required to attend Mastering the Basics (BBL02) before joining this workshop.
Duration: 1 hour

Enhancing Collaborative Learning – Blogs, Journal, Wiki & Groups (BBL05)

Overview: This workshop provides skill training on using a range of online tools for supporting student interaction and enhancing collaborative learning.
Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Make use of Blogs & Journals for reflective learning
  • Use Wiki for increasing collaboration
  • Create and manage student Groups effectively and efficiently
  • Make use of Group Tools for enhancing groups interaction
  • Create and grade group assignment
Prerequisite: Participants are required to attend Mastering the Basics (BBL02) before joining this workshop.
Duration: 1 hours

Facilitating Self Evaluation and Peer Assessment (BBL06)

Overview: This workshop provides skill training on using the Self and Peer Assessment tool of Blackboard Learn. Students can reflect on their own and other’s work by doing Self and Peer Assessment.
Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Set up Self and Peer Assessment
  • Add Review Criteria
  • Track Peer Assessment Result
  • Download Student Submissions
Prerequisite: Participants are required to attend Mastering the Basics (BBL02) before joining this workshop.
Duration: 1 hour

Advanced Blackboard Learn (BBL07)

Overview: This workshop will cover the advanced functions in the eLearning System.
Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants should have an understanding on the following features:
  • Enhancing Collaborative Learning – Blog, Journal, Wiki and Group
  • Managing Online Assessment – Test and Survey
  • Mastering the Grade Center
  • Other tips for using the system
Prerequisite: Participants are required to attend Mastering the Basics (BBL02) before joining this workshop.
Duration: 2 hours
